I think building clean, energy-efficient jobs is the most important thing in our country right now. We have spent the last few years investing in a war effort and building up two other countries. Our cities and infrastructure are decaying, whether you look at businesses, bridges, roads, or public schools. It's the old economics guns versus butter argument. If you make more 'guns' you have to trade-off by making less 'butter'. Urban areas are particularly full of blight. People are losing jobs and not paying into the tax base so governments are cutting upkeep and investments in the schools and roads. The U.S. in many areas is noticeably shabbier. Some high profile bridges and tunnels (in Minneapolis? and Boston) have collapsed and killed people. Some older cities are being abandoned by the younger people (because there are no jobs there), and so they are dying. We need to invest in infrastructure in thiscountry.
