National Geographic's Top Ten Tips for Acing the Bee!
- Use different references (e.g., a world map, a good atlas, blank outline maps, a geography reference book).
- Learn the language of maps (e.g., latitude, longitude, coordinates, absolute location, Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn, etc.).
- Learn the most important place-names (memorization) by organizing them into physical and political groups, find each feature or place on the map.
- Master mental maps. Having a sense of scale helps. Learn the vegetation zones (or biomes) and climate zones; cultural features, economic features.
- Combine information from different sources (thematic maps,cartographs, graphs, etc.).
- Look for geography in all subject matters at school.
- Be an observer of goods and products, grocery foods.
- Stay current with current events.
- Read.
- Play games with quiz format.
